Request blackboard team to plan for journal entry download facilities. As now their is no such option to download it in bulk, Instructor have to do it manually.

Thank you for posting this Gaurav Gulati - this would be so useful, we regularly have a need to send away journal posts to external verifiers and there's currently no way to do this, without creating a screen shot or print out of every single post, which isn't scalable. Having the ability to create an export would be incredibly useful.

My faculty also want this capability: it could really speed up the grading process too, allowing a quick overview to check for completion.
A bit late to the party on this one, but we'd very much like to see an export facility on blogs, journals and wikis.
There are lots of use cases for this, but it is particularly important where one of these tools is being used for personal and professional development - there is a strong requirement for such personal reflections to be portable. So a print to PDF, or better still an export as html option would meet a need which currently cannot be met.
Our main use case is for our teacher training courses where the journal is used for teaching reflections. The lecturers always ask for exports so that the trainees can take away their reflections, and the comments from their mentors, to keep in their teaching portfolios, and so that they can refer back to them after completing the course.
Agreed - being able to export work from Blackboard is a must, not just for reflection and self-development but, as it's possible to grade items such as blog entries and journals, also for external verification.
Yes - I fully agree. Being able to download/export (to PDF or HTML) student generated content from journals, blogs and wikis as well as discussion boards is a real must. We used to have Campus Pack (quite a few years ago) and that had a very good export option available for its journals, blogs and wikis. I think it's a real problem that students work gets 'trapped' or 'locked' inside Bb's collaborative tools. I guess that the best way to deal with it is to use something like an LTI integrated PebblePad inside Bb, but then Bb becomes increasingly redundant ... but perhaps the big VLE/LMS is becoming increasingly redundant anyway. Maybe it's time for the big VLE/LMS to give way to the PLE.
I completely agree with all your points above - it would make such a difference in all these contexts to have this functionality, without it I find it difficult to recommend some of these tools as they are so limited/limiting.
I'd also like to see the option of setting these tools up to run for an individual over the course of their time in HE - this would enable students to build on work semester after semester and year after year (particularly important for reflective learning or when constructing new knowledge). Not being able to copy them across from one course into another when working with the same cohort is very unhelpful.
I agree, our External Verifiers are finding it difficult and time-consuming to access the information they need via the Grade Centre. It is not sustainable to try to provide all the information they need. It is absolutely necessary to be able to download journals, discussion forums and wikis with the relevant comments, feedback text, rubrics and grades.

It would be really good to get an official response from someone at Blackboard about this - is this something that could be added to the roadmap? There's clearly very good support for the idea amongst clients. I appreciate that the majority of investment will be going into Ultra at the moment, but we really need to continue some development with Learn 9.1 to avoid it becoming stale and dated; relatively small improvements to existing tools like this can make a very big impact.
I'll just add a +1 for this feature too. I agree with Chris that it would be good to have some indication if this idea is being considered at Blackboard. The lack of download options is really problematic for the blogs, journals, wikis etc especially when other non-Blackboard tools often have the options as standard.

Thanks for posting this Gaurav! I would love to see this feature, and also for it be extended to download blog entries en masse by student or by blog, and also for wikis - (course or group wikis) for the instructor to be able to download an HTML based version that can be loaded outside of Blackboard - e.g. for passing onto external examiners.
